The truth is, if you want more joy, compassion, love, understanding – It’s not a matter of chasing, fixing or forcing anything. It's about allowing yourself to be who you already are. It’s about realizing that everything you’ve been looking for has been here all along. The feeling you get when you truly realize that? I would describe it as coming home.
The Home You Never Left
For the longest time, I had preconceived notions about what “home” was. My college years were spent going back and forth from Boston to Scotland, always wishing I was in the opposite place. Nowadays, I find myself agonizing over when and where I’ll be able to build my dream home. But it hit me recently: the home I’m trying to force on the outside is really about reconnecting with the feeling of being at home. And the truth is, you don’t need a perfect environment to find that.
Honestly, what a relief! You don’t have to book a retreat or rearrange your life to find that sense of belonging. All it takes is giving yourself permission to come home to yourself, right where you are. If you can feel that, you’ll be able to exhale into a more peaceful state of mind and what you’re looking for might just find you.
Remembering Who You Are
There’s something truly powerful about those quiet moments when it clicks, and you realize that you don’t have to do anything. It’s not about changing who you are or striving to become someone different. And it’s not about aspiring to be more. It’s more like letting go of the layers of expectations, self-judgment, and doubt that have been weighing you down.
Think of it like this: You’ve been in airplane mode even though you’ve had Wi-Fi available the whole time. You never lost the connection—it was always there, waiting for you to switch it back on.
When you reconnect with yourself, life starts to feel lighter. You start to see joy, love, and miracles unfolding in ways you hadn’t noticed before. And the best part? You don't need to force it. It just happens when you allow yourself to be, exactly as you are.
Trusting Your Heart as a Guide
Your heart is like a compass, always pointing you in the right direction, even if the path doesn’t look exactly how you imagined. When you move, love, and create through your heart, you naturally find yourself in the right place at the right time. And sometimes, that means letting go of control and just trusting the process.
Looking back, it’s important to honor how far you’ve come. Not with judgment, but with compassion—like watching an old home video of yourself and feeling nothing but love for that version of you (something that used to be very challenging for me!).
It's the realization that every experience has brought you to this moment, and it’s exactly where you’re supposed to be.
Letting Your Light Shine
Coming home to your heart is about letting your true self shine—not because you have to prove anything, but because being yourself is enough. Your dreams live in your heart for a reason—they exist because they’re possible. All it takes is trusting them enough to take the next step, one moment at a time.
What’s Calling You Home?
So, this is the journey I’ve been on—learning to trust my heart, let go of unnecessary rules, and embrace the joy that’s already here. I’m still figuring it out, but every step feels like a homecoming.
What about you? What’s calling you home today? Maybe it’s as simple as slowing down and noticing the joy in the little moments. I’d love to hear about it—feel free to share in the comments. And remember, you don’t have to travel far to come home. All you want and more is here, simply waiting for you to notice.
